Royal Blood (有空再來翻中文)(欸)
Royal Blood plays their first 2014 North America headline
show this summer. The rock duo from
Brighton are bass guitarist and vocalist Mike Kerr, whose voice is described as
emotive with heavily distorted bass guitar sound, and drummer Ben Thatcher
pounding beats of their intensive melodic songs. They played at the Ballroom of Taft Theathre
in Cincinnati last Saturday. Although
the set was short due to the fact the band has not released their debut album,
which is due on August 25, 2014.
The opening band was a local hard rock band named Valley of
the Sun. The three pieces band sounds
like Metallica, Black Sabbath, and Stone Temple Pilots. The guitarist and vocalist Ryan Ferrier
sounds like a combination of James Hetfield and Chris Cornell (with the combination
of these two I am not sure whether it’s a something promising for a music
career nowadays.) The bassist Ryan
McAllister jumped with the rhythm as he played which was very entertaining, and
the drummer Aaron Boyer was making a lots of sounds and gave audience fierce
look during the song and makes it really entertaining as well. Valley of the Sun turned to be really
impressive. Although I was half deaf at
the end of the set, their music was really good. They will be touring briefly in the states later
in September, and they will be head up to Europe for some gigs. Their newest album “Electric Talons of the
Thunderhawk” is out now. I mean
seriously who name their albums with this sort of awesomeness now?! You can find them on their Face Book page
here: https://www.facebook.com/valleyofthesun
Royal Blood started their set with the song “Hole.” And the set get better when the latest single
“Figure It Out” was played. We enjoyed
the set so much we felt like time go pass by very quick, but it could also be
the fact that they really didn’t have many songs to play to us. One of the new song was called “Blood Hand”
was a little bit of nagging like a sick country song but it was still
cool. I liked another new song “Ten
Tonne Skeleton.” It has a dance groove
bouncing move in the song that brings you jump ups and downs. They ended the set with “Out of The Black”
and still did not successfully create any mosh pit of fighting in the
audience. Yet, the set was very
enjoyable and made you feel like it’s all about rock’n’roll.
Royal Blood is on tour now, and will return in September
supporting Pixies. Their debut album
“Royal Blood” is available for pre-order now.
